Snow Shortage 1-9-2019

January 9, 2019 0 Comments

With no official snow on the ground here in Rochester as of January 9th, some folks may be wondering if we’ll see any more snow this winter. The short answer to this question is of course yes, but with little snow in the forecast now through mid January it’s tough to say just when we’ll see the ground covered with snow again.

Recent history suggests that we may still have the bulk of the snow season ahead of us. Since 2012, the bulk of our snowfall here in Rochester has come after January 9th. The chart below indicates total snowfall (in light blue) through January 9th and total season snowfall (dark blue) through May. While we may not have much snow on the ground now, odds are good that we should see more snow before this winter ends!
