What month is it?

We’re most likely going to be setting new record cold high temperatures today. Here are a sampling of some current records that stand for July 17th, followed by the year that occurred.

Mason City: 67°, 1958
Austin: 68°, 1938
Decorah: 71°, 1984
Rochester: 71°, 1958 & 1994
Winona: 72°, 1906

Rochester’s coldest ever recorded daily high in the month of July was 58°, in 2000. I don’t think we’ll break that record today.

Feb 21-23 Ice Storm of 1922

I would interested to hear if anyone has relatives who remember this. It was awhile ago – 1922 – and Jeff Boyne at the NWS in La Crosse has put together a page about the significant ice storm of Feb 21-23.

Enjoy the quiet weather! Chilly, chilly Monday morning, followed by a nice warming trend into midweek.
