Blue Moon…you saw us standing there cold…

Blue Moon! By Wm. Patrick Ward, Chatfield

OK, so those aren’t the true lyrics…but whatever.

This picture comes from Wm. Patrick Ward of Chatfield. This was the Blue Moon on New Year’s Eve, which one, just looks cold looking at it, and two, kind of makes you just want to take a big bite out of it. Yum.

It’s cold, but you knew that already. Lows tonight will bottom out around -20°, and highs tomorrow will be stingy and will once again refuse to budge above zero. At least there’s the sun. Stay warm everyone!

Light Snow Today; Arctic Invasion On Its Way; And BLUE MOON!

Light snow today, folks. That’s it. Nothing more than a gentle layer of an inch or so to freshen up the crusty mess after last week’s storm. Don’t let a minor amount turn you into a speed demon on the roads, however.

My recommendation is to tackle getting rid of as much icy stuff as possible on surfaces today…because it’s all downhill, temperature-wise, from here on out (for at least the next several days). Highs Thursday will be in the teens; we then dip below zero for lows on New Year’s Day, revisit that area for several nights, and look forward to single digits for highs.

Oh – and yes – there will be a Blue Moon for New Year’s Eve night. :) Not called that because it’s blue, or made of cheese, but because it’s rare to have a full moon twice in a month (“Once in a blue moon…”). Nonetheless, rare to have it fall on a New Year’s Eve! I’m fairly confident you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of , too. We should have mainly clear and cold skies.
