Sunday morning udpate: More counties have been added to the winter storm watch – which starts tonight – nearly everyone is involved in it now, with the exceptions being the counties that right border to the Mississippi River.
How much snow? 6-12″ is definitely not out of the question. This will start tonight and go through Tuesday. Snow rates per hour won’t be drastic; instead we’ll have consistent light snow for 24-48 hours.
Chat more tonight on the NewsCenter at 5 and 10!

Saturday update:
Perhaps the groundhog was right, and we’ll endure 6 more weeks of winter. Starting with more snow.
A Winter Storm Watch is up for some of the area (see our Weather Page for more detail on where), and it’s looking like a long-duration snow event. Snow should start Sunday midday (west) and should be falling for most by Sunday evening, but very light. Snow will fall through Monday and into Tuesday, when the heaviest here will fall, and could linger into Wednesday morning.
That’s a long time for snow to fall, and even with light to moderate snowfall rates, the fact that we’re talking about 24+ hours of straight snowfall means totals can rack up. I say, early estimates would easily put most of us around at least 6″+. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some spots nearing 10-12″.
Stay tuned! We’ll chat more at 6 and 10 tonight.

Light and fluffy or wet and heavy?
Real light and fluffy…like powdered sugar.
