Slow-moving winter storm to affect us

Winter Storm Warnings (including Rochester, Austin, Charles City, Mason City, Albert Lea, and Decorah) have been issued from 6AM Monday to 6PM Tuesday. Winter Storm Watches are still in effect for nearly the whole rest of the area. Those watches run basically from tonight through Tuesday.

Snow, light to moderate at times over the next 24 to 36 to nearly 48 hours, will leave 6-12″ for the area by late Tuesday/Wednesday Am. Counties in the warning I’m looking more at 8-12″, while outside the warning, more on the order of 6-10″.

Winds will pick up on Tuesday as the system departs the region. That will cause blowing and drifting of the snow.

While this won’t be 6-12″ falling in a short amount of time, do keep in mind that yes, it still will be significant snow, and yes, it will be slow-go on the roads for about two days.
