Rochester Mom has local chance at stardom

It seems like it’s been forever since Signal Hill CW held an open casting call for America’s Next Top Model, although it’s only been five monthes.  That night back in March, my co-workers and I spent five or six hours sitting there, watching as 66 girls paraded onto our little runway.  Then that next day we had to hurry and make sure everyone’s pictures were there…that the DVDs were transferred properly…the entire 20-something page packet was filled out.  Then, we didn’t think much about that night until recently when the cast for America’s Next Top Model Cycle 13 was announced.  Lo and behold, one of our top three finalists made it on the show.  We were stunned, and couldn’t wait to find out more.

Now, as I’m waiting til the September 9th premiere, I can’t believe that I’m actually looking forward to watching America’s Next Top Model…I’ve only seen the show twice…and that was leading up to our local casting call.  I had wanted to make sure I (as the official videographer) was doing everything right.  I wanted the girls that showed up to have their shot at fame.  I wanted the casting directors to watch the video and maybe find one person they’d like.  Guess what?  They found one.  Now I can’t wait til September 9th and watch America’s Next Top Model to see our local Rochester girl, Rae.  I guess we all know who I’ll be rooting for!  Go Rae!!!

Fall Line Up for KTTC

Whoo-Hoo!  Heroes is back on Mondays this fall!  If I am to understand correctly, the Heroes saga is coming to an end.  I’m glad that they are trying to end the show gracefully rather than hanging on and jumping the shark horribly.

Mondays also bring us the show Trauma.  It looks like a cross between ER and any of the crime procedural shows that are on TV right now.  It’ll be interesting to see if that works out.

Tuesdays are when Biggest Loser airs…not my kind of show, but it seems like it works…it has a following.

Mercy and Law & Order:SVU are on Wednesday’s slate.  Most people know what Law & Order:SVU is…Mercy on the other hand…it’s a medical show.  Seems kind of like ER or Trauma.  Except it’s told from the nurses point of view.  A little bit different.  We’ll have to see.

Thursday nights are comedy nights.  Saturday Night Live Thursday (switching to Community), Parks and Recreation, The Office, and the return of 30 Rock.  Now I’m not a comedy person.  Community looks interesting, though.  With Chevy Chase, it whould be interesting…all set in a community college.  I could see that one taking off.  I’ve tried watching Parks and Rec, but it was like torture.  I was never an Office fan, but have come around.  It’s a good show actually.

Friday nights are Law & Order and Southland.  Normally Friday nights are a death sentence for a show.  I think Law & Order can withstand it though.  And Southland seems like a good pairing.  We’ll have to see how it plays out.

New Fall Line-Up

I just wanted to post something quickly about FOX 47′s new fall line up.

First thing first…HouseLast season ends with House checking himself into the insane asylum.  The promos for the fall are great…”House, is that you?…Yes, how many friends do you have in the nut house?”  And Lie to Me!  Tim Roth is great!

Then, So You Think You Can Dance? is coming back for a fall season.  How cool is that?  I’m curious as to how they’re going to pull that off.  Going straight from a summer season, into a fall season.

And Glee…if you saw my post yesterday, you can tell how excited I am!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have the second episode and I am so pumped to watch it.  I am not a person who is musical, but this is still a me type show.  I was always one of the underdogs in high school.

Then Bones and Fringe are back.  Thursdays are going to be GREAT!!!  And FOX must LOVE Bones, too.  They picked it up for two more seasons.

Brothers seems good, but it’s not really my kind of show.  Til Death is back, and that’s cool.  They’re going back to the basics with the show.  Dollhouse is also on Fridays.  Should be interesting.

And then one last thing.  Human Target is greatt!

Jane Lynch & Matthew Morrison

Okay, so I went to Vegas last week for our annual FOX Promotions Executive Conference.  What fun!!!  Well, we are always given copies of the pilots before we go so we can watch them before we head on out to the conference.  That way, we can talk about them and learn what FOX is doing to promote them, and what they would like us, on a local level, to do.  Well, the entire conference was all about Glee, FOX’s newest show that previewed after American Idol this last May.  And FOX has been doing a great job of keeping it in the public’s mind.  So our people were trying to get us all revved up about Glee.  They were doing a great job.  (I have my own Glee t-shirt, hat, notebook, pen, pencil, pom-poms, and foam finger to prove it.)  Well, on Day 2 of the conference (my last day) they said they had a surprise and boy did they.  They brought out Jane Lynch & Matthew Morrison, two of the stars of Glee.  What fun!!!  They were extremely nice and great sports about standing around to meet each of us and get their pictures taken with us.  What a way to start ou a new show.  I know that I will be faithfully watching Glee from now on.  Thanks FOX!  And thanks Jane Lynch & Matthew Morrison!!!
