So shoot me…I have never been a real fan of X-Files or Lost. For some reason Heroes captivated my attention. So I actually didn’t have any real hope for Fringe.
But what do I see when I start my tape last night of Fringe? A show that looked like it should be a movie.
Blood splattered on the windows of a plane.
A plane that landed itself.
A guy who got caught in an explosion that also had some unknown synthetic compound in it that has now caused his skin to become see through.
A freaky genius who was gotten from the local psychiatric hospital…and his freaky genius son, who hates his dad’s guts and is now running from the mafia.
It’s actually good stuff with a good plot.
What I didn’t expect to see was a strong female. She doesn’t want to be special. She has a jerk for a boss, who doesn’t seem to believe in female equality. She was having an office romance with the guy who ended up with see through skin. Turns out he was working for someone else. (I’m guessing that’s why someone tried to kill him and why he ran and ended up dying in that car chase.) Her name’s Olivia Dunham. It’ll be interesting to see if she turns out to be a positive female lead without being a too weepy female or a too macho female.
And Walter Bishop? Funny, but freaky. I LOVED IT!
I didn’t care about the LSD scene. Kind of wierd, but mostly lame in my opinion.
Overall I was impressed with the show.
As for some of the other premieres??? Not many have happened so far. I kind of like Hole in the Wall on FOX 47. America’s Toughest Jobs isn’t as cool as I thought it may be. I may watch Crusoe (based on Robinson Crusoe’s life). I don’t think I’ll watch Kath and Kim or Knight Rider (although I LOVED the original). My Own Worst Enemy has my interest peaked though. I can’t wait for Life to come back, athough NBC made the horrible decision to move it to Fridays!
I’ll let you know as more shows are premiered.
