The original pilot of New Amsterdam held my attention, but there were things that were just…off…about it. This was back in July. FOX then sent a recut version of the pilot that was pretty close to the one that aired. This one totally held my attention and made me need to watch episode number two. Because now, not only was the guy hot and mysterious, he now had family. It was revealed that he had a kid at the end of the pilot.
You find out in episode number two that the kid is Omar, the guy that owns the bar that John lives in. His kid is a 65 year old black man. I mean…Wow. Now this whole kid thing adds a new dimension to the show, but what’s going to happen? Will America like that or will the show go up in flames like so many of FOX’s shows have a tendency to do? Only time will tell…

When I first heard about the show, it intrigued me but then I forgot about it. I caught the first episode because there was nothing else on and was HOOKED. Now I’m tuning in for every episode. I think it will be a hit and the lead is a fox.
Maggie, I SO agree with you. I have been watching the show avidly…well, I missed Monday’s episode because of the power outages that were happening and just haven’t been able to get on line to see it, but WOW! And I have to tell you that after I saw the original pilot, I wasn’t sure the show would make it. Then the recut was pretty darn good and the aired was even better. I know a guy here at work doesn’t care for the romance portion of the show, but likes the rest of it. Hey, I’m female, so you can keep the romance in all you like.
At any rate, Maggie, keep me posted on what you think about the show. And we can both keep our fingers crossed that the show makes it to season two!!!
