It seems that I like Prison Break…

For some reason, Prison Break has been at the top of my mind and been fueling my urge to write.  And that’s not fair to shows on KTTC like Medium, Law & Order:SVU or CI, and the Apprentice.  So I will just write quickly about Prison Break and then move on to the Apprentice.

From the previews, we knew that Scofield, Mahone, and Whistler were going to be stuck down in the tunnel, but for some reason, I was under the impression that they knew they were stuck down there.  Not that they would emerge, Whistler would be captured and BAM, Michael would end up killing Sammy and two of his cohorts.  Michael is extremely intelligent and suffers from something called Low Latent Inhibition…these two things make something like taking another human life extremely hard for him, even though he was saving Whistler, Mahone, and his own lives.  But now with Sammy out of the way, Michael is finding himself in a predicament similar to when he was trying to get out of Fox River.  He needed to include a few people in on his escape…Sucre (his cellmate) & DB Cooper (the old guy that I can’t remember his real name)…but others ended up included in on his plan…(the crazy guy & T Bag naming two).  Now breaking out, he’s got to take Whistler with him and Le Chero needs to be included, but Mahone, T Bag, and Bellick are along for the ride.  We’ll have to wait to see what happens in two weeks.

The Apprentice…I’m worried it’s heading towards the ramp to jump the shark.  For those of you unfamiliar with the term Jump The Shark, here’s a quick history lesson.  The phrase comes from Happy Days, when Fonzie jumped a tank of sharks.  That is when the show had no chance of coming back.  It was going to end and that little stunt sealed the deal.  Now when a show goes too far, it’s considered that it has "jumped the shark".  There’s a whole website dedicated to this, just click here to find out if your favorite show has jumped the shark.  Okay, back from my little side trip…the Apprentice’s numbers have fallen from when it was a big success.  It had over 28 million viewers for the first season, dropping off to a lowly 7.5 million viewers for last season, season six.  To reviatlize the show, they now have celebrities playing to be "The Apprentice".  An odd assortment of celebrities (reminding me of the first season of Dancing with the Stars when they had to practically pay people to participate) including the following list:
Trace Adkins (country star)
Carol Alt (model)
Stephen Baldwin (actor…or the not popular Baldwin brother)
Jennie Finch (Olympic softball player)
Nely Galan (Former Telemundo Exec)
Marilu Henner (actress/author)
Lennox Lewis (boxer)
Piers Morgan (America’s Got Talent judge)
Omarosa (Apprentice season one castoff)
Tito Ortiz (Ultimate Fighting Champ)
Vincent Pastore (actor)
Gene Simmons (KISS)
Nadia Comaneci (Olymic gymnist)
Tiffany Fallon (Playboy Playmate)

Okay…let’s see…I watch a lot of TV and consider myself fairly well rounded and yet I knew only seven of the fourteen candidates.  I say JUMP THE SHARK…

Well…American Idol and Dirty Jobs tonight.  Let’s see what happens.

Want to Give Us A Heart Attack?

Prisonbreakboxedin Sheesh!  Prison Break, I tell ya.  Were they trying to kill us last night?  And what was with that General?  He just liked to torture anyone and everyone he could?  I understand that he runs Sona, the roughest prison in Panama, but still!  And then what were the writers trying to do?  I mean, I understand Michael pulling Whistler into the General’s office to try and get out of the hot box, but I had absolutely NO CLUE where they were going with the story.  And I still have no clue what’g going to happen next.  Last night they ended up with Susan B. AKA Gretchen Morgan having killed the General.  And then she did nothing to LJ as repayment for having been brought in?  We know that she called Lincoln right after she called to be picked up, but we never heard what she said.  I just don’t know.

And then the previews for next week?????  Michael is going to be trapped underground in the tunnel that is now collapsing.  And what’s up with Mahone.  This week he’s deciding he wants to quit his drugs even though he could have a quick fix from T-Bag.

Then also who in the heck is in charge of the company???  It just might actually be Whistler, with Susan B. working on the outside for him, but what hold does he have over Susan B.?  I just don’t get it.

As I’m looking at this post I just see question marks all over the place.  Season 2 of Prison Break wasn’t the best.  This season is ranking right up there with season 1.  I really need to buy season 2 though so I can remember some stuff.  There’s so many little details that it’s hard to remember.

Whew…Law & Order:SVU is tomorrow, I hope.  Either that or another look at the opera singing Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs.

Wow…sorry for being gone!!!

Sorry my loyal readers for being gone so long.  It teaches me that I’ve got to put to TV ahead in my list of priorities more.

So, what have I been watching?  Well, for some reason I turned to Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel.  I’ve heard about the show and watched a few minutes of it here and there, but have never sat down and watched the whole thing.  Now?  I’m hooked!  I even went out and bought the first collection of Dirty Jobs on DVD.  I just love the host, Mike Rowe, and have his bio up on the Discovery Channel website while I’m writing this.  I didn’t realize that he used to host a show that I used to watch that was on TBS called Worst Case Scenerio.  You know that yellow covered book that told you how to survive everything from being on an elevator when the cable snaps to how to give CPR.  I’m an odd duck.  I love odd knowledge.  Dirty Jobs is now ranked right up there with Mythbusters as two of my favorite shows on cable.  (Psych, Monk, and Ghost Hunters being some of the others…Hey, I watch A LOT of TV.)

You know, I haven’t even talked about the premise for this show, just that I liked it and the host.  Ok, the show is about…dirty jobs….actually it’s more about the people who have dirty jobs.  Having worked at the parking ramps downtown and been given the task of cleaning all the dirt, salt, and sand from the ramps each April, I can truly appreciate what Mike Rowe does.  He literally dives into whatever job he’s currently on assignment to do and does it with gusto.  Whether it be sticking his hands into a shark to autopsy it or climbing up a coal chute (a very narrow dirty coal chute that’s over a half mile under ground), he does it and does it happily.  If you wanted to know a little about anything and everything, this is a show to watch.  It’s funny and you learn a lot along the way.

Alright people…Prison Break IS BACK!!!!  Tonight at 7pm on FOX 47.  Tune in!  I’ll right more tomorrow.  And then we also have Law and Order:CI (who is advertising the shows as new on KTTC even though they played new on USA earlier this year…it’s okay though because it will get me caught up on my watching) and there’s Ghost Hunters and a renewed favorite of mine The Apprentice.  I say renewed because I didn’t care for The Apprentice when it was in Los Angeles.  The aspect of adding the celebrities has made it great…although I think it’s about ready to jump the shark.  We’ll have to see.  More tomorrow on Prison Break hopefully.  See you then!
